Whilst the song has something of a soulful feel to it in the verses, a distinctive riff gives the choruses a slight 'country-rock' vibe. Lyrically, the song alludes to the regret that can come from making a hasty decision, when the consequences of one's actions are worse than the perceived circumstances which led to that action being taken.
